Follow these 5 easy steps to obtain a marriage license in the US Virgin Islands:

Print and Fill Out:

Fill out all the information on:

Application for License and Certificate of Marriage

Write a Cover Letter:

Provide a cover letter with the following information:

Date you are arriving in the Territory

How long you are staying

• Date you will pick up your marriage license at the Superior Court in St. Thomas

• The following information
about your Officiant:

A) Marriage License Application


B) Virgin Islands of the United States License and Certificate of Marriage

C) Cover letter


D) Certified check or money order, in the amount of $100.00, payable to:  Superior Court of the Virgin Islands (Note: $50 of this is for application & is nonrefundable)

E) Divorced? A certified copy of the Divorce Decree

F) Widowed? A certified copy of the death certificate

(about one week after mailing, you may call the Court and ask Ms Monsanto for your reference number, to ease the pick up process for you. Also confirm the date you wish to pick up your license.)

Pick Up in St Thomas:

Pick up your license, both of you in person, each with photo id, at the Superior Court before the ceremony.

VI is in Charlotte Amalie (Downtown) St Thomas. See map below for easy directions for getting to the court.
 
(bring the copies you made of your documents and your certified mail receipt with you when you pick up the license, just in case)
 
It's Easy!

Court Hours and Location
Court office hours are:
M-F: 8:00am - 5:00pm
(except holidays & we have holidays that vary from the States; call ahead to confirm your date of pick up)

Sat: 10:00am -12:00 noon (except Carnival Saturday)
Additionally, by pre-arrangement and upon the payment of a $150.00 fee, the court can be available on
Sundays between 9:30 and 10:30 am

Take note: wearing flip-flops and/or shorts is not permitted when appearing before the court.

Getting to The Court :
The court is a short taxi ride from the St. Thomas Airport.
If you arrive in St Thomas by 3pm you can go straight to the court from the airport.
Or from St John take a Ferry to St Thomas, allow one hour travel time from the ferry departure till you arrive at the court.

2 Ferries operate between St. Thomas and Saint John (see map below)
One ferry leaves from Downtown (Charlotte Amalie),
the second leaves from Red Hook (East End), and both arrive in Cruz Bay St. John.
